Anal fissure

  • Anal fissure is an oval, ulcer-like, longitudinal tear in the anal canal. 

  • Anal fissure is one of the most common causes of anal pain.

  • It is estimated in 20 % of the US population suffer from such conditions. There are approximately 350,000 new cases diagnosed in the US annually.

  • Anal fissure occur in 1 in 350 persons in the European Union.

  • Anal fissure is a common condition in young to middle-aged adults. Both females and males are affected.
